Kaprun is a mountain village about 15 minutes from Zell am See, at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and the Maiskogel.
It is the base of choice for guests whose holiday is built around the mountains. The Kitzsteinhorn offers glacier skiing for much of the year and the Top of Salzburg viewing platform; in summer the Kaprun high-mountain reservoirs and the Sigmund-Thun gorge are classic family excursions. The Tauern Spa thermal complex sits on the edge of the village.

About 15 minutes by car. Regional buses also connect the two, and from May to October the Mobility Card for partner accommodation covers buses and trains in the Pinzgau region.

Can you ski in Kaprun in autumn?
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier usually opens for skiing well before the main winter season. Opening dates change each year, so check the Kitzsteinhorn's official site for the current calendar.

Getting there
Kaprun is about 15 minutes by car from Zell am See, which has a railway station on the main line between Salzburg and Innsbruck, with buses on to Kaprun. Salzburg airport is roughly an hour and a quarter away by car and Munich around two and a half hours.
When to come
Kaprun works all year. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier offers skiing for much of the year, the Maiskogel is the family ski hill above the village, and the Zell am See–Kaprun ski area is close by. In summer the high-mountain reservoirs, the Sigmund-Thun gorge, Lake Zell and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road are all within easy reach, and the summer guest card included with many of our Kaprun apartments covers a range of local lifts and attractions.
